LICENSED RE SALESPERSON
Hilary Smith
I had already bought and sold a couple of homes in Woodstock when a friend suggested I should get a real estate license. As it turns out, helping people buy and sell real estate is a much more fun and uniquely challenging way to positively impact my local environment. After moving to the mountains of Shandaken in 2010, I chose to pursue real estate full time (and end a very long commute to Beacon!). I have experience with all types of real estate transactions and do not discriminate based on price range — whether you are looking for a 100k home or a million dollar home, you will receive top-notch professional and ethical service. My buyer clients have purchased exactly what they were looking for, often for a much better price than they anticipated!
My love for the Catskills / Hudson Valley and my family’s long-standing presence in Woodstock has kept me in the area while others have come and gone. With the goal of making a positive impact on my community and the environment, I graduated from Marist College with a dual major in Environmental and Political Science, minoring in Economics. I was a Senior Planner for a Hudson Valley-based Planning and Development Consulting firm for over a decade and was admitted to the American Institute of Certified Planners. My work primarily involved municipal planning services (reviewing Site Plans, Subdivisions, etc) and environmental impact analysis and review pursuant to New York State’s SEQR act. Sounds like important and community-changing work, but more often than not it was bureaucracy, opposing interests and unsatisfying compromises.
